Teaching Focus

I am passionate about developing my students as I do my children, presenting them with all the tools to generate knowledge, experience, and character through a Christian lens that prepares them to be Christ-like followers and leaders and to become abundant stewards of God’s. My desire and focus are to form leaders who integrate strategy, logic, empathy, and ethics, using a strong Christian moral compass to shine a Godly light on a Christian path.

I am a Socratic method practitioner whose sessions are grounded in theory, practice, and Christian thought. I treat the classroom as a community of inquiry in which learning is pursued through properly prepared dialogue; thus, class participation is mandatory. I structure discussions so that as quieter voices are recognized, they are drawn into the conversation. Additionally, as dominant voices are recognized, they are encouraged to listen. Such a practice yields a synthesis of available information and experiences, guided by the Holy Spirit and transforming the classroom into a workshop of Christian leadership, wherein humility, courage, and “Loving thy neighbor” are emphasized.

Ultimately, my goal is to assist in the development of Christian leaders capable of asking the hard questions of themselves and of their organizations; to be able to practice a modification to Sun Tzu (Cir. 500 B.B.): “Understand yourself, your God, and the internal and external environments, and you will realize your abundance.”

Additional Information

Dr. Tim White, Colonel, USAF (ret) (Air Force callsign: “Midas”), has been happily and contentedly married to Kim for over 30 years. He is also a proud father of triplet twenty-five-year-olds (each going their own separate ways).

Dr White is a member of , a , a retired and pilot. He earned his PhD in Organizational Leadership, with a concentration in HR Leadership Development.

Col White deployed 12 times, flying hundreds of combat flight hours, including , accumulating thousands of flight hours in 8 different aircraft. He is a fourth-generation American military service member, the first in his family to go to college, and the first to be commissioned an officer. His great-grandfather served in the Civil War, his grandfather in WWI, his father in WWII, two of his brothers in Vietnam, and Dr White professes he “was in far too many countries and conflicts to count.”

Col White was commissioned as a pilot in the US Air Force and flew missions all over the world.

It was at this point that Col White accepted Jesus into his heart, began his walk with Christ, and was introduced to his soon-to-be wife, Kim Cooley (Miss North Dakota, 1995 and later News Anchor for ABC News).

Col White became a professor at , teaching Advanced Problem Solving, Strategy, Communication, Teambuilding, and Leadership. Afterward, he returned to the cockpit in numerous leadership positions, including commanding a deployed Special Operations flying squadron flying combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, deputy commander of a , and Chief of Safety for an .

Following those assignments, Col White took command of an (testing new aircraft and advanced flight procedures). He simultaneously commanded another deployed Special Ops flying squadron, flying combat missions into Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Horn of Africa. He was later “loaned” to the US Navy as a Professor of Joint Military Operations, Global Strategy, Organizational Leadership, and Communication. While serving in that position, Dr White was assigned to lead the Department of Defense’s “think tank” on the Asian area of interest.

Col White wrapped up his military service as the Chief of Staff for , where he oversaw a staff of 2,000, managing an organization of over 110,000 personnel, and an annual budget of over $16 billion. His proudest point in that position was developing and leading a reorganization team that created a collaboration program for 110,000 individuals, utilizing a horizontal collaborative model that overlaid the military’s pyramid command structure.

Following his military service, Dr White served as a Project Manager and Strategist for . Later, he served as a church organizational consultant, PhD dissertation developer, and private interview coach.

Dr White earned a Doctorate in Philosophy from .

Currently, Dr White enjoys teaching at DCOB, where he “trains the greatest students in Business Strategy and Leadership” at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels and serves as the Program Developer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) of the Leadership Master’s program. Dr White fervently believes that God created all of his prior experiences for the sole purpose of preparing him to serve here at žžTV.

His future goals include praising the Lord at every opportunity, developing the next generation of Christian leaders, continuing to date his wife, Kim, loving on his children, and, of course, being a rockin’ grandpa one day!
