HBU School of Christian Thought听
I am currently the听dean of the Graduate School,听and served as the听interim听dean of the听School of Christian Thought. It鈥檚 been such a privilege to听have the role of听working听with the faculty and students of our graduate programs in the School of Christian Thought.听
We offer several graduate programs in the School of Christian Thought,听as听well as numerous certificates. We have听Master of Arts programs in Apologetics, Biblical听Languages, Christian Leadership and Theological Studies.听In addition, we have a Master听of听Divinity program and certificates in areas such as Evangelism, Greek, Apologetics, and New Testament.听
All of these programs听help听prepare graduates to better serve the Church.听We care deeply about developing leaders听who听can have a positive impact on the world for the Kingdom. The faculty of the School听of Christian Thought are world-class scholars and practitioners. Our professors have written bestselling books in apologetics, evangelism, New听Testament studies and other areas.听They are frequent speakers at churches and academic conferences,听and know how to excel at communicating to each audience. Students听have the ability to learn,听and be mentored by,听the leading lights of the evangelical world when听studying through听Houston Baptist University.听
In addition, we鈥檝e worked hard to make our programs flexible and accessible for the working adult.听Most of our classes are in the evening;听we have several online options for courses as well.听In addition, we have courses all throughout the year so听students听can start soon after听they听apply,听instead听of waiting for their听opportunity to begin.听Our Master of Divinity program is 72 hours long听鈥撎齱hich we think is an excellent balance of providing a comprehensive education while not stretching out听time in school.听Our programs have a variety of scholarships,听so that helps keep them affordable and it attracts great students.听
Finally, the School of Christian Thought听is an exciting place to learn.听We have multiple guest speakers each year.听Among others,听we have had N.T. Wright and Dale Allison visit. This year,听we are featuring an ongoing lecture series听by Andrew Lazo on C.S. Lewis.听We have conferences in Apologetics听and Theology each year as well.听In addition, we partner with churches,听and our MDiv program has a cohort of students at Second Baptist Church where听they听can learn from dynamic pastors who are ministering to the city of Houston.听
